Children by Choice presents a special screening of the documentary “The Secret History of Sex, Choice and Catholics”, followed by a Q & A discussion on issues such as sexuality, marriage equality, conscientious objection and abortion with guest speaker Catholics for Choice president Jon O'Brien.

Catholics for Choice (CFC) was founded in the US in 1973 to serve as a voice for Catholics who believe that the Catholic tradition supports a woman’s moral and legal right to follow her conscience in matters of sexuality and reproductive health.

CFC is based in Washington, DC and works with sister organizations throughout Latin America. They also maintain a presence in the European parliament and throughout Europe, working closely with Catholic and reproductive health colleagues there. CFC is an ECOSOC-accredited NGO in the UN system and has participated in many UN conferences and forums. You can read more about Catholics for Choice on their website, or read a piece by Jon O'Brien on why "The Secret History of Sex, Choice and Catholics" was made.

Children by Choice is thrilled to host Jon O'Brien for this special Brisbane event. The screening and discussion are a great opportunity for anyone wondering how to reconcile their faith with support for reproductive autonomy. The event is an all options pro-choice space, intended for genuine discussions and the chance to ask questions about the nuance and complexities of religious belief and reproductive choice. It is not a space for anti-abortion rhetoric or comments designed to upset or inflame debate. We welcome all who are interested in coming in the spirit of community and tolerance, but we do reserve the right to refuse your registration or evict you from the event if need be.
